Today’s Dirty Pop post comes from Mary Kenkel, who is originally from the Chicago ‘burbs. She’s an aspiring journalist, graduating in spring 2011 with plans to head out to the Big Apple. Her pastimes include listening to the Beatles, traveling, and, of course, the Chicago Bears.

Remember WE tv’s Bridezillas? Well this is much worse.
In fact, when I saw a commercial for E!’s Bridalplasty, I thought it was a joke. Future brides competing for plastic surgery? You have got to be kidding me. So I watched, in disbelief, wondering what humanity has come to.
With the drama of any reality TV show, Bridalplasty takes it about 10 steps further. Take 12 whiny, self-absorbed bridezillas with low self-esteem, cram them in a house and let them go at it. Essentially, the brides are competing for an all expense-paid wedding and an all-your-body-can-handle, plastic-surgery buffet. Gross? Pathetic? Sad? Pick your adjective.
“Every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day but for the women competing on E!’s new series, Bridalplasty, only perfection will do,” the network said in a statement. “… They want the dream wedding and the body to go along with it.”
To create the dream body, each bride-to-be created a plastic surgery “wish list,” including all sorts of alterations, such as liposuction, nose jobs and boob jobs. Oh, and one bride even wants her second toe shortened.
And the best part? The winner’s fiancé won’t see his fixed-up bride until she walks down the aisle.
Each week, the competitors participate in wedding-themed challenges to win a surgical procedure of their choice. Challenges thus far have included writing wedding vows, trying on wedding dresses and taste-testing fine foods and wines.
The competitors are not ugly, and a few girls are slim and model-esque. Here are a few of the most dramatic individuals on the show:
1. Alexandra White is an overly dramatic, sobby, 21-year-old bride who constantly reminds us that she was a former contestant on The Biggest Loser, where she met her fiancé. She’s desperate to make her plastic surgery dreams come true, and she said the surgery is more important than her wedding. Best quote? “You’re pathetic,” to another competitor who DIDN’T want major surgery.
2. Cheyenne Aikens was the first contestant to win plastic surgery, although she weighs about 100 pounds and looks like she walked out of a bridal magazine. Her first surgery? A nose job. Also on her wish list: liposuction of outer and inner thighs, liposuction of inner knee and a shortened second toe. She’s only 21 years old.
3. Melissa Hooper is the youngest contestant at age 20. She and her husband had a quick wedding before he was deployed to the Middle East. She skipped out on his homecoming to be on Bridalplasty. The show did surprise her when her husband showed up to the house for a night. Best quote? “You’ll wait for me like I waited for you,” to her husband. Does she really think a reality show can be compared to a tour of duty in Iraq?
4. Kristen Sciacca is a 21-year-old from Orange County California. She is the daughter of a former Miss California and has competed in pageants herself. In fact, she was crowned Miss Anaheim in 2005. Why does she need plastic surgery? Who knows! She won the second round of plastic surgery, with which she got a boob job.
5. Shanna Moakler is the host. She is a former Miss USA who is also Travis Barker’s ex-wife. She has hosted Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants and competed on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. But she’s pretty scary looking—like she’s gone through a little too much plastic surgery herself. So I guess that makes her the perfect host for this show.
If you’d like to see the destruction for yourself, Bridalplasty airs Sunday on E! at 8 p.m.
